Giving Thanks!

"Give thanks to the Lord and
proclaim His greatness.
Let the whole world know
what He has done."
Psalm 105:1

Oh how blessed I am --

one hero of a husband . . .

and one . . .
two . . . three . . .

four . . . five . . . precious Bigs!

And two . . .

of the greatest

Littles in the whole wide world!

Oh Lord, I proclaim Your greatness--
You have blessed me over and over again!

Yesterday the Littles and I worked on a "Thankful Tree". First we painted the tree (grey instead of black because that's what we had) and then we cut out leaves . . . and then we wrote our blessings down . . .

some blessings were very, very BIG . . .

like "God's love"

and some were everyday blessings
(that we might tend to take for granted) . . .

like the tape we used to put our leaves on!

Others were life changing . . .

and huge . . .

"I am home!"

and written by my littlest bird,
who knows she's been adopted twice . . .
once by God and once by
her mama and daddy.

So much to be thankful for!

We also decorated turkey cookies on Wednesday
after big sister returned from her classes.

Some of our turkeys were quite freestyle . . .

(with eyelashes even) . . .

others were more traditional . . .

and less iced

and others (if you were a certain seven year old boy)
included the "Angry Bird" edition --
see mean orange cookie below.

It was a fun afternoon!

Today, daddy roasted 22 pounds of goodness.
Free goodness I might add--
another one of those unexpected blessings.

My sweet friend Terry (who joined us for dinner)
received the turkey from her employer earlier in the week.

Thank you sweet friend for sharing your
blessing with us!

Waiting on dinner . . .

everyone should have a little brother
to give them rabbit ears!

My Teddi girl, the official relish tray maker
and famed pickle eater!

Love her!

I missed my big boys today, but we were blessed to be able
to do a two hour Skype visit on Wednesday night.
Oh how that did this mama's heart good.

I am thankful that though miles separate us,
the Lord has given us precious memories . . .

and He binds our hearts together
across the miles.

"Give thanks to the Lord and
proclaim His greatness.
Let the whole world know
what He has done."
Psalm 105:1

He is faithful, and good!

The Corn Maize, Unexpected Blessings . . . and A Look Back

Last Saturday we visited the South Texas Corn Maize in Hondo, Texas. It was a beautiful fall day and we had so much fun spending "down time" with our littles. To top it off-- in honor of Veteran's Day all military families were given free entrance, gotta love free fun in the country!

(I borrowed this aeriel view from the website.)

Our fearless leaders take us into the maize . . .

"Let's see . . .

yep, this is right . . .

a few more turns . . .

and a few more . . .

and a few more . . .

and we're almost out!"

Once we finished the maize
we partook of some
yummy-to-the-tummy
apple enchiladas.

As I stood in line for the yumminess the lady ahead of me asked if I could use their "Maize Money". She had purchased 10 tokens (at $1.00 each) and they hadn't used any of it! You needed tokens to jump on a big "corn popper", ride a kiddy ride, or shoot corncobs across a field out of this designed-by-a-guy-for-sure ultra corncob shooter thing.

We hadn't purchased any Maize Money, so of course I had no problem accepting her unused tokens. We'd been given another three tokens shortly after we walked in (by someone else who was leaving)--so we scored a grand total of $13 in Maize Money-- not bad considering our admission was also free! We didn't end up using it all and were able to pass on the blessing to a young family as we left! Don't you just love unexpected blessings? Fun!

Teddi jumped on the "corn popper" for a nice long time while daddy and Brogan shot corn cobs at targets from the designed-by-a-guy-for-sure ultra corncob shooter thing! (Sorry, no pics of the guys, as I was watching my lil "popper hopper".)

It was a good ol' south Texas day!

The following day, after church, we decided to go out for Mexican-- more yumminess in the form of chips and salsa, enchiladas and fajitas! Followed by another unexpected blessing in the form of great big pieces of . . .

free chocolate cake!

It so happened that we were dining out on the patio alongside a family who was celebrating an important wedding anniversary together. . . with lots of chocolate cake! How blessed were we when they decided they had plenty of cake to share, and delivered it sweet piece by piece to our table! Very unexpectedly blessed, again! It was good to the last chocolately crumb!

And for a random "look back" I pulled this cuteness out of the archives, circa 2008 . . .

Turkey time . . .

May your week be filled . . .

with unexpected blessings!
