The Newly's GIVEAWAY--Hurry!!

The Newly's are at it again, but I'm a little slow on the draw, so you need to hurry!

They are having a giveaway for a FREE pair of TOMS shoes. Yes. A FREE pair!

If you are unfamiliar with TOMS,
for every pair you purchase (or in this case, win),
TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need!

One for One.

So if you win, it's a win/win!
You get a new pair of TOMS,
and a child desperately in need of shoes,
will be barefoot no more!

How sweet is that?

and join in the fun--by Saturday night (June 26th)!
You might just find yourself sportin'
a new pair of TOMS!

And while I have your attention I just have to share a little bit about the Newly's most recent adventures . . .

If you have been around for awhile you will remember me blogging about the Newly's living off of a Children's Hunger Fund Food Pak, for a week, in their very newly days. They had shopped for and filled several of these boxes for CHF, and decided the best way to see what it would be like to be the recipient of one of these boxes, would be to eat only from what was in the box--for a week. And they did.

They blogged about this adventure, and word got out. So last month, when Fred Martin, the Communications Coordinator for CHF, was traveling to San Antonio (from his California based position), he asked the San Antonio director to see if she could get a hold of Taylor and Frankie. Mr. Martin was coming to town to work on a new video for CHF, and he wanted to interview the Newly's about their Food Pak experience-- for the video. And he did just that! It was a wonderful experience for the Newlys, and it made this mama proud. You can read about the Newly's food pak adventures here. They actually did this twice, the second time around they ate solely from the box for TWO weeks. Currently they live on a $10 a week grocery budget, by choice. Yes, ten dollars. If you want to see how, jump over and look for their "Menu Monday" posts.

I have to share one more story, and God gets the glory . . .

On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend the Newly's held a Yard Sale at Frankie's grandma's home, they had simplified, and had many things to get rid of. I had also simplified (and need to do more of it) and had donated my "treasures" as well. Frankie's mom and sister also added treasures to the sale inventory.

To back up a bit . . . The Newly's have set a goal for themselves, a hefty goal. To buy a well. A $5,000 well, through Charity:Water. Their Yard Sale was to add some "drops" to their water jar, and that it did . . .

In their own words (I swiped this from their blog) --

To say our yard sale went pretty well would be an understatement. We did a little research on when would be a good time to have it, even though our date was pretty much set, we wanted to know our odds.
Rule #1: Have your sale after payday. Oops.

Rule #2: Never have it on a holiday weekend, people travel. Strike two.

But, we prayed, and moms prayed, and aunts and cousins prayed... and we had God up to bat for us- GRAND SLAM! Our God is not a God of rules and statistics, thank goodness! We had our very first customer at 6:30 am and it didn't slow down until around 12:15! We were consistently busy (but never overwhelmed)! After that things slowed down, but we still had constant bursts of people, with never more than about 5 minutes in between. We sold and sold and sold! At the end of the day we had raised a wonderful $521.23! Not bad considering that our biggest item was priced at only $15!

Seriously, the most expensive item they sold was an old loveseat, for $15.00. Does God bless a sale when it means thirsty people will someday drink clean, life-giving water? I would say YES!

He blesses our efforts abundantly when we do what He calls us to do!

I'm proud of you Taylor and Frankie, for walking out what God has called you to. For living life sacrificially.

Your lives, lived with less, not only honor the Lord, but are life saving for others. Thank you.

It is a good, good thing when the child you have trained up, grows ups, and sets a beautiful example for you, as the parent, to follow. A good, good thing.

Blessings from my thankful, and hoping to win a new pair of shoes, nest ~

Tina
